Kelly McCausey |
Internet Radio and Podcasting changed Kelly McCausey's business and it ended up changing her life.
In early 2002 Kelly turned to the internet to help earn extra money providing web and graphic design services. Already employed full time, she wasn't making enough to make ends meet. As a single Mom, Kelly wanted to earn more without sacrificing the amount of time she had to be home with her son.
It was in 2003 that she first learned about internet radio. She became so enamored with web audio that she launched a short audio newsletter for work at home moms. The newsletter was only five minutes a week and quickly grew listeners. This got her thinking about how to bring more audio content to the web.
Work at Home Moms Talk Radio launched in November 2003. The show has grown to over 1250 weekly listeners and is celebrating it's 200th show and fourth anniversary this fall.
Kelly is now a busy internet marketing coach, helping other moms build profitable web based business that give them the freedom to enjoy their families through a private membership site and one on one consulting. She has also recently acquired Moms Talk Network and is in the process of merging all of her projects together into a rich online environment for moms to enjoy.

She is a regular contributor to the GNM Parents Blog, and her own blog about New Media and Life in general called Parent's Eye View. She has been instrumental as a consultant to the Podcamp Foundation, and has helped organize Podcamp NYC ( 1.0 & 2.0), Podcamp Philly, and Podcamp Boston 2. Whitney and her husband, Dr. Matthew Hoffman, have 2 children, both of whom have learning disabilities.
Whitney has a degree in Developmental Biology from the University of Pennsylvania and a JD from Penn State- Dickinson School of Law, and has been balancing work and parenting from early on. In addition to podcasting and blogging, Whitney has a few part-time "real" jobs to keep her amused, which her husband jokes will eventually add into a full time job.
Whitney has had several "regular" jobs, including consulting for Madden & Patton LLC., helping to design the NFL's ADA compliance program for the Super Bowl, and providing on site disability services for the Super Bowl for eight years. She contributed chapters to Public Assembly Facility Law, a book on the legal aspects of public assembly facility management.
While she is an attorney by trade, at home, she reports that her worth is often determined, by the children, purely by the quality of the last peanut butter sandwich.(Was it cut properly? Were the pieces symmetrical? - It's worse than Top Chef) When asked where she lives, she is often heard to remark, "In a tan minivan on I-95." When people ask her what she does at a cocktail party, she responds "I'm a pediatric logistics specialist when I'm not working my job in dispute resolution for minors." (Of course, we all know this means driving kids to and from everywhere, while maintaining peace between siblings in the backseat, but don't tell everyone.)
